Canada’s own homegrown downhill hero Patrick Switzer wins at the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) Maryhill Festival of Speed this past Sunday. A blurb from their site about the win:

Goldendale, WA, USA – Patrick Switzer won the 6th annual Maryhill Festival of Speed in a wild final heat over number one qualifier Zak Maytum, Alex Tongue, Kevin Reimer, Douglas Silva and Billy Meiners.  Switzer, Maytum and Tongue came around the final corner in a pack with Switzer pulling out a gap of about half a metre at the line over Maytum with Tongue in close pursuit as well.  Kevin Reimer’s foot tangled with Billy Meiner’s wheel on the start causing both riders to go down.  Reimer recovered quickly but still lost valuable time.  He spent the entire run trying to catch the leaders but came up about five meter’s short in the end.  Douglas Silva had also been with the lead pack with the top three finishers until he crashed in Seismic Corner near the bottom of the run.  He came across the line angrily in fifth place, but no protest was filed.  Meiner took a longer time recovering from his start line incident with Reimer and was never in contention, settling for sixth place. Pat is sponsored by the industry wheel giant Otang Wheels, and once again rode them straight into the first place spot on the podium.

Also doing well at Maryhill this weekend was Madrid Skateboards pro rider Zak Maytum with his pole position placement (first in qualifying) followed by a second place finish in the finals, hot on the heels of Patrick the whole race. Zak’s 41″ downhill Pro model can be seen here: Zak Maytum Downhill Board, and is currently available through us here at S&J Sales.

S&J Congratulates the IGSA Maryhill competitors and winner Patrick Switzer.
